COMMUNITY INTERESTS
TLC (Tuesday Lunch Club)
TLC for Busby senior citizens runs most weeks of the year on a Tuesday from 11.30am to 1pm and aims to show God’s love in a practical way by providing a quality lunch in a welcoming atmosphere where neighbours can enjoy a good chat over a tasty meal.
Community Visitation
An ongoing programme of visitation of Busby senior citizens is carried out to build bridges with the community and many people are visited on a regular basis. A parcel of groceries at Harvest time and a gift and calendar at Christmas are delivered to around 160 households.
Bible Exhibition
As part of our commitment to serving the local primary schools Cartsbridge runs an annual Bible Exhibition in early spring. Our aim is to provide a resource for the schools that will assist them in the delivery of the 5 – 14 Curriculum (RME). It also operates as a stand alone experience which enables children to learn a great deal about the Christian faith in a relatively short period of time.
At present we are able to offer the schools two different exhibitions:
“Cracking the Christianity Code” This looks at the life and teaching of Jesus as well as Christian signs and symbols, saints and the place of the Bible in the Christian faith.
“The Easter Experience” Here we concentrate on the death and resurrection of Jesus.
Added to the above we have brought the Scottish Bible Society’s “Bibleworld” truck to the area and this was well received by the schools who visited.
