Youth Worker, Cartsbridge Evangelical Church

 
 

Full Time; 2 year fixed term contract  

Cartsbridge Evangelical Church (CEC) is an active, lively independent church on the South side of Glasgow. We have a busy youth ministry programme covering pre-school to adulthood which is inclusive for both young people from within the church and the local community.

The CEC Youth Worker will be part of the youth ministry leadership team and the overall ministry of Young Cartsbridge.  The CEC Youth Worker will serve the church as a spiritual leader and role model for the young people.

The key responsibilities of the CEC Youth Worker will be :

Engaging young people – developing and strengthening the existing youth work, and providing social and leisure events for both church youth and the local community in church activities.

Mentoring and discipleship – encouraging young people to grow spiritually and enabling them for effective service and evangelism.

School ministry involvement in local schools through chaplaincy teams and SU groups.

Transition – leading the integration of young people through each stage of church life.

Community involvement – raising the church profile and building relationships in the community.

Development – encouraging church youth to take up serving opportunities in the church, in Christian ministry organisations, e.g. SU camps, GLO mission teams, and in the community.

Safety and wellbeing – providing a supportive, caring and safe environment for young people.

 

Our ideal candidate will have an active Christian faith and be an engaged member of the local church, they will be excited by the Church’s vision for young people to grow into mature Christians.  Previous relevant formal Christian training (e.g. certificate of higher education in Biblical studies and Christian ministry or equivalent) is essential.  The successful applicant will be competent in delivering a youth work programme, ideally with a proven track record in Christian youth work, experience of working in schools, and of training and supporting volunteers or teams. They will have demonstrable leadership experience and excellent communication skills, with the ability to inspire confidence and develop others.

Salary: £21,000 to £28,000; to be confirmed dependent on skills and experience.

An Occupational Requirement applies in terms of the Equality Act (part 1, schedule 9) as the postholder must be a committed Christian.

Appointment will be dependent upon a satisfactory PVG Scheme Disclosure.
